Dr. DeLeo has been a mental health provider training, treating, and educating in the South Florida area for the past 18 years while recently opening a virtual branch of her practice in her home State of Illinois.  While holding a special interest in working with individuals who want to increase their self-understanding, improve their self-esteem, and to better manage their emotional states and behavior for the purpose of greater personal and professional achievement.  She welcomes the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, families, and systems who are in need of restoring or maintaining their psychological well-being.

Dr. DeLeo holds her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, which she completed at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Formerly, she earned an undergraduate degree from Loyola University New Orleans and completed a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.  Dr. DeLeo is dually licensed in the State of Florida to practice as a Clinical Psychologist & Mental Health Counselor and licensed in the State of Illinois as a Clinical Psychologist.

Dr. DeLeo provides ​Integrative Psychotherapywhich is a psychotherapeutic approach in which elements from different schools of thought are expertly combined in order to present you with the most clinically efficient, scientifically validated, and personalized treatment.

Being that Dr. DeLeo has been formally trained to conceptualize from a psychodynamic standpoint, her care is grounded in the tenets of insight-oriented therapies. Moreover, Dr. DeLeo has also been trained to treat from various psychological schools of thought including humanism, family systems, cognitive behavioral and supportive dialectical behavioral therapy.

Dr. DeLeo has treated a variety of conditions over the years including but not limited to the following: depressive disorders, adjustment conditions, anxiety disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), relational issues, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), student and professional well-being, and the eating disorders.

While formerly providing treatment across all units of a major county hospital and with a background in health psychology, Dr. DeLeo obtained Diplomat status with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress in collaboration with the National Center for Crisis Management.  Specifically, Dr. DeLeo has helped many individuals learn to manage and overcome the effects of various forms of trauma including medical, military, as well as childhood sexual abuse.

Beyond her trauma specialization and after many years of working in residential eating disorder treatment settings, Dr. DeLeo is specialized in caring for individuals and families struggling with a full spectrum of eating disorders.  Dr. DeLeo takes a strength-based approach when working with couples and families.

Please note that Dr. DeLeo personally responds to all of the phone calls made to her practice.  Therefore, it may take her some time to respond due to her current practice demands.  Dr. DeLeo responds to messages and calls Monday through Thursday.
